Used Part
The drug (Viola tricoloris herba) consists of the dried flowering tops of Viola arvensis Murray and / or Viola tricolor L.
Active Principles
It contains salicylic acid (0,06-0,3%) and derivatives such as methyl salicylate and its corresponding glucoarabinósido, called violutósido or violotusina, phenols and other acids such as trans-caffeic acid, cis-and trans-p-cumare , Gentisic, protocatéquico and others. It is rich in mucilage (15%), composed of glucose (35%), galactose (33%), arabinose (18%) and rhamnose (8%) and 2,4-4,5% of tannins. It has been several isolated flavonoids: routine violantina, escoparina, saponarina and C-heterósidos vitexina, saponaretina, orientina, isoorientina, vicenina-2 and a new flavonoid di-C-glucoside, the violarvensina (apigenina-6-C-beta - D-glucopyranosyl-8-C-beta-D-6-deoxygulopirano).
Other components are the tannins (2-5%), antocionósidos and carotenoids like violoxantina (a mixture of 4 geometric isomers) and small amounts of saponins, ascorbic acid and alpha-tocopherol. Contains cyclic peptide of 29 to 31 waste aminacídicos with 3 disulfide bridges (violapéptido I peptides and Varvara).
According to the RFE, the dried flowering tops must contain at least 1.5% of total flavonoids, expressed as violantina.
Drug Action
In folk medicine has been used to treat respiratory conditions, such as intervening in cases of rheumatism and gout, as well as a diuretic, and diaphoretic, among others.
Its diuretic action is disputed, not increase the volume of urine but the removal of chloride. In rats has shown activity on certain models of skin ailments.
Indications
According to the Commission E is indicated for external use for minor ailments and skin seborrheic crust milk for children.

Galenica forms / Dosage
According to the Commission E, with another prescription, 1.5 g of drugs in the form of infusion or decoction, 3 times a day, or equivalent doses of other preparations for external use.
According to the Standardzulassung, put 2 teaspoons (about 4 g) of thought in hot water (about 150 ml.) And, after 10 minutes, strain. Unless otherwise prescribing, preparing, several times a day, an infusion that will take the form of promotion.
