Aerial parts

The ground ivy is a small plant, very common, with trailing stems, branches floriferous erquidas, small leaves cordate. The flowers have a Goblet tubule with 15 nerviaciones bilabiada Corolla and a purple. The French pharmacopoeia recommends its characters through microscopic identification and characterization of tannins. The test consists of a C.C.F. an ethanol extract of 60% (terpenes).

Chemical composition

This species has not been studied from a phytochemical. Contains triterpenes, beta-sitosterol, flavonoids (Cimarosa, cosmiósido, hyper, isoquercitrósido) [687] and a small amount of essential oil with ketones terpénicos (pinocanfona) [683]. It has been possible to prove the existence of chemotype based on the nature of the Sesquiterpenes: glecomufurano or glecomanólido [684]. It seems that it has not confirmed the presence of marrubiína.

Pharmacological data

Preliminary tests have shown that the ivy ground stimulates the activity of the adenilato cyclase plaqetaria. His division leads to the isolation of the principle responsible for its activity. This is a fatty acid, octadecadienoic hydroxylated in 9, 9-hydroxy acid-10-, trans-12-cis-octadecadienoic [685]. Biological tests show that this is a partial agonist at the level of prostaglandin E1 receptor and D2. The ground ivy possesses anti-inflammatory properties in tropism Bronchopulmonary substantially identical to those of marrubio [686].

Employment

The drug, little known, is used in the treatment of acute benign bronchial and in the symptomatic treatment of cough. The drug criomolida no acute and subacute (3 g / kg and 300 mg / kg / day, rat, per os) [688].
