Active Principles
Heterósidos coumarin. Small amounts of heterósidos Anthraquinone. Monotropa. Heterósidos iridoideos: Aucuba (in the fresh plant). Tannins, bitter principles. Emulsina (enzyme splitting of the heterósidos coumarin).
Drug Action
Spasmolytic, especially at the digestive, Carmine, appetizer-eupéptico. Antiinflammatory, diuretic uricosuric. Slightly sedative and hypnotic.
Recommended: In dispepsias hiposecretoras, gastralgias, nervousness, insomnia. Urolithiasis, oliguria.
Eye disorders: blefaroconjuntivitis.
Popularly used as a diaphoretic (in colds and flu), to combat the cramping hepatoprotective Hepatobiliary and as (hepatitis).
Contraindications
Do not prescribe dosage forms with alcohol content to children under two years or consultants in the process of alcohol addiction.
Caution / Poisoning
Take into account the alcohol content of the fluid extract and tincture.
Galenica forms / Dosage
- Infusion: 20-50 g / l, infuse 10 minutes, 2 cups a day.
- Fluid extract (1:1): 30-50 drops, one to three times a day.
- Tincture (1:10): 50-100 drops, one to three times a day.
- Topical use: Infusion: 20 g / l, applied in the form of eye drops or eye baths.
